The Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE) is administered to an investigation and all over India in eight zones across the country under the guidance of a teacher network of the Committee, consisting of the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Council – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the Indian government.
Areas and the corresponding administrative institutes of GATE are:
Zone 1 – Indian Institute of Science Bangalore
Zone 2 – Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Zone 3 – Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
Zone 4 – Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
Zone 5 – Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur
Zone 6 – Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
Zone 7 – Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Zone 8 – Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
Some institutions specify GATE as mandatory qualification even for admission of students self-financing post-graduate programs. GATE qualified candidates in Engineering disciplines are also eligible for the award of scholarships in the laboratories of the CSIR junior. Some government organizations prescribe GATE qualification as a prerequisite for the application of a researcher / Engineer.GATE is performed usually on the second Sunday in February each year. Admission to all programs MHRD Scholarship Graduate Assistantship / in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy in India is open to those who are eligible for GATE.
AWARDS:
A candidate is entitled for the Department of Human Resources Development (MHRD) Scholarship / Assistantship in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy / computer science at the universities / institutes in the country if he / she qualifies in GATE. To qualify for the scholarship
“The candidate must secure admission to this graduate program, under the current procedure of the Institute for approval. GATE qualification by itself does not guarantee admission. GATE qualified candidates in Engineering disciplines are also eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in CSIR Laboratories.

“Cracking GATE is important to get admission to graduate programs and benefit from scholarships to various colleges in the engineering study of the Government of India.
“After qualifying in GATE is entitled to pursue the Ph.D. program in the chosen branch of science, mathematics, statistics and computer applications.
“Scoring in GATE can pursue M. Tech program in one of the leading institutes of India.
“After qualifying in GATE, you qualify for the award of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) in the laboratories of the CSIR.
